KEITH REIHL
President

Keith has been in the MEP industry for over 19 years in Houston. In addition to being President for The Houston Chapter of ASHRAE, Keith is the Texas Gulf Coast Regional Representative to the USGBC South Regional Council. Locally, he serves as the Immediate Past Chair/Treasure of the Houston-Texas Gulf Coast Chapter of the USGBC. He also serves as the Chair of Gulf Coast Green, the AIA COTE Regional Green Event. He is also chair of the Energy Code committee for the City of Houston and on its Recycling Committee. Keith holds many credentials in the industry including recently attaining the new ASHRAE High-performance Building Design Professional designation. Keith is an active and avid fundraiser of sustainable building initiatives throughout the state. He holds a bachelor degree in architectural engineering from Kansas State and an MBA from the University of Houston.

He is a Sustainable Engineer and President/CEO of Reihl Engineering. He provides LEED Consulting and Commissioning for existing buildings, new and renovation projects and is responsible for overseeing the design of MEP systems. He is a LEEDTM Accredited Professional by the United States Green Building Council and holds many credentials related to energy efficiency and green building. He resides in Cypress Texas with his wife and 2 sons and enjoys astronomy and music in his spare time.

PAUL J. ALEXANDER
President Elect

In the recent past, I have served as a leader in several of our workshops and in years gone by, I participated in our product shows and meeting programs. My employer is Straus Systems where I serve as Vice President, Operations Management. Straus is one of the city’s larger mechanical contractors, self-performing both piping and sheet metal, and is also a registered engineering company. It has been in existence since 1933. Straus Systems acquired METCO in 2003 where I had served as President and CEO for the previous 20 years.

In addition to my ASHRAE involvement, I serve on local and national committees for both the SMACNA and MCAA organizations. I received a Master of Science in Engineering from Texas A & M University and am a Fellow of the Graduate Teaching Academy. I also received an MBA with a Specialization in Finance from Sam Houston State University, and hold degrees from LeTourneau University and North Harris College.

ALAN NEELY
Vice President

Hello Houston. I’m Alan Neely, the ASHRAE Houston Chapter secretary for the 2008-2009 year. I am a Regional Manager for Pittsburgh Corning – Foamglas Insulation. For two years, I have served as the Membership Chairman for the ASHRAE Chapter here in Houston. It was incredible to see our membership grow. As a result of the outstanding growth in our ASHRAE Chapter here in Houston, I received the Lincoln Bouillion Award, a society award that recognizes the outstanding work in increasing the membership of the society and the Round’em Up Award, a regional award that recognizes the outstanding work in increasing the membership on a regional level. It is an honor to work on this ASHRAE Board of Governors with such talented and inspiring individuals. I look forward to the new responsibilities that have been appointed to me, and I am very excited about the upcoming year. If you have any ideas for programs or ways to improve our chapter meetings, let me or any of the Board of Governor members know. The Houston Chapter of ASHRAE is here to meet your professional needs and interests.

In addition to my Chapter involvement with ASHRAE, On a national level I serve on four technical committees for ASHRAE and serve on the technical committee for the USGBC Houston Chapter. I received a degree in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University.

I reside in The Woodlands, Texas with my wife and 2 children. In my spare time I enjoy time with my family and running in Marathons


MIKE DONOVAN
Treasurer

Mike Donovan, a 2009 and 2010 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist, is the principal of HTS Texas. In this role, he has incorporated market-changing, innovative concepts and customer service, enabling the company to grow 6,200 percent to gross $31 million in 2009. Donovan has won numerous top sales achievement awards from York International and Daikin McQuay. As principal, he has earned McQuay International's Pinnacle Award, a prestigious honor that commends leaders who help their companies grow and increase market presence and community involvement, while promoting employee and supplier relations.

Donovan is a member of Entrepreneurs Organization and, over the past decade, has served on several industry advisory boards where he was involved in the research and development, marketing, operations and engineering support of new product development. Donovan also is a LEED AP as well as a ASHRAE HBDP (High Performance Building Design Professional). He received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University and attended Houston Stratford High School.

Donovan volunteers regularly at the Parish School in Houston to help create awareness about autism. In 2009, he co-sponsored a $24,000 tuition scholarship for a Parish School student, in addition to staffing events and organizing the annual golf tournament. He also provides financial contributions annually to the Memorial Hermann Medical Center, St. Cecilia Catholic Church and donates to muscular dystrophy, cancer research and other pervasive developmental disorder charities.


Elliot Millican
Secretary

Elliot earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2001 and has since been employed by E&C Engineers & Consultants as an HVAC design engineer and project manager. His main career focus is HVAC design for commercial and institutional facilities.

Since becoming involved in ASHRAE, Elliot has been nominated as a finalist for ASHRAE’s New Faces of Engineering award for two consecutive years. Within the Houston Chapter, he assisted with the Student Activities Committee in 2005 and served as the Membership Chair from 2008 to 2010. Elliot also assisted in organizing the Houston YEA Committee position in 2009 and received the annual Houston Chapter award for YEA Member of the Year in 2010. He continues to focus on reaching out to the young engineers in the Houston HVAC community to encourage their participation in the local chapter.

Outside of his career, Elliot enjoys being at home, in Pearland, Texas, with his wife and two children.

KEVIN MURPHY
Past President

Kevin began his HVAC career in 1994 at Hunton Trane in Houston, Texas as an Account Manager in Systems Sales. Serving the commercial, institutional and industrial markets of Southeast, Texas, he earned several awards including Trane Top 10%, Trane Quota Breaker and was twice named the national #1 Trane Account Executive. Kevin was promoted to Sales Manager in 2005 and promoted to his current position of General Manager and Vice President in 2008. Kevin develops the strategic plan for Hunton Trane system sales and manages the sales, support, and operations teams. Kevin regularly participates in national corporate initiatives, including new systems and product development and market strategy and direction.

Kevin has been an active member of ASHRAE for fifteen years and has served in several chair and officer positions. He is the current Houston Chapter President. Other industry affiliations include the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).

Kevin is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power Program and is proud to have served on submarines for four years. He spent most of his time at sea on patrol in the western and northern Pacific Ocean during the Cold War.

Kevin earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, cum laude, from The University of Texas at Austin.

He currently resides in Houston in the Memorial area with his wife and three children. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys restoring his vintage 1969 Mercedes Benz 280 SL convertible roadster.
